“Paper Cities” is a hybrid puppet theatre performance that explores the relationship between the origins of land and animal and the human desire to house or shelter oneself and gather together in community. It is inspired by poetry that expresses this awareness and the awe that was felt by artists as cities initially grew, along with the longing for the natural world. It seeks to illuminate the crossroads we have come to after centuries of using printed material, paper, money- the skins and bones of trees to house, clothe, feed, and define ourselves as humans on the cusp of environmental redefining, mass extinction and large numbers of people migrating due to being displaced by global warming.
